Silence of the Snow

Snow.  It is magical.  The transformation.

There is the excitement of children, young and old children.  The excitement that something special is about to happen.  That will bring sleds and snowmen and snow cream and wet boots and soggy gloves and laughter and snowballs and walks and joy.

But it also brings silence.  Stillness.  The pattern of everyday life is altered.  There is no rush of cars on the road.  The whole world seem muted, muffled, transformed to something different.

We move slower.  We rediscover simple things that we’d forgotten we loved.  Fires in the fireplace.  Books left unfinished.  Conversations unspoken.  Warm drinks that warm the soul as much as much as the body.

The beauty outside is a reflection of the beauty inside.

We are one.  A new creation.  The transformation is complete.
